FOREVER

How long is forever?

Forever is a long, long time.

Forever was too long
not to know love as I do now.
Years of life’s joys and pains,
the endless cycles of losing, then finding, my way.

Forever was long enough
to know who I am,
to know what I want and need,
to know the love and passion I have to give.

Then I met you.

Now, forever is how long
I feel I’ve known you,
smelled your essence, heard you call my name,
felt your love envelop my bruised heart.

Forever is not long enough
for me to show how much I love you,
for us to share life’s sweet fruits,
for our love’s light to brighten the world around us.

I love you beyond my earthly time, and
when I meet God, I’ll see your face.

We are forever.
